Brotherhood

by The Winter Project

/

about

The song is a self-reflective story about the band itself, and why they continue to write, record and practice in a world seemingly less interested in rock music than ever. If not commercial success, perhaps there are other drivers for the band, now in its seventh year of existence.

The song, written by bass player Ron Belanger, was somewhat inspired by "Stay Free" by The Clash. It provided Belanger with a framework in which to view his bandmates. Unlike Mick Jones writing about his childhood friend Robin Banks, who turned to a life of crime, Belanger looks across the practice space to his bandmates and friends for a bit of a "thank you" for what they bring into his life. It's a celebration of both the band itself and the four members in it.
